To address the devastating crisis of over 3,000 migrant sea deaths in 2021 and more than 1,200 in 2022—primarily caused by drowning and dehydration during prolonged journeys—we transformed standard sea buoys into autonomous "Lifepods." Designed to provide immediate, continuous aid where traditional rescue missions cannot reliably wait, each Lifepod features easily accessible food and water compartments, a locator light, inflatable side lifeboats to relieve overcrowded vessels, and an automated voice operator that communicates across multiple languages to guide migrants. Furthermore, the pods are equipped with emergency GPS tracking buttons to alert nearby marines and a 360-degree surveillance camera. The real-time imagery captured by these cameras is utilized in an impactful out-of-home (OOH) and social media awareness campaign, engaging the public and driving vital donations to sustain the project.
